Sort Data In A Table, Sort Data JavaScript

If you want your tables to be sortable by your clients on runtime, like ordering the columns of strings or integers to be in ascending or descending order, then this post can be helpful.

Sort Data In Reports

If you are working on some reports where you need the columns to be sorted on runtime, then this could be done easily using JavaScript in your page.

There are plenty of websites, which provide the JavaScript file .js for free, to make your table or reports sorted on runtime, by the user.

Get Rid Of Order By Queries

By using such sorting scripts, you can get rid of sorting the columns in alphabets, numbers, or both i.e. alphanumeric, in your queries, because users can sort them easily at their end, just by clicking on the columns they want the table or data to be sorted in.

Sorting Scripts

For more details on this, I recommend the the following websites to make your reports or data sorted on runtime by the clients, by just adding a single js file in your page:

Sort String and Integer Data:

Sort String Data Only (Integer Sorting may not be correct) :

MSN Messenger Linux, Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora

While finding MSN Messenger for Linux / Ubuntu, I found different software, where I found aMSN. But another alternative has been found, which is, in my view, much better than aMSN, as it feels you like you are using Windows MSN Messenger.

emesene

Emesene (Em Es Ene) is the one of the best alternative to MSN Messenger after aMSN. If you are addicted to MSN Messenger Windows, then you will find this alternative very good to use, which will make you feel like you are using MSN in Windows.

Download & Install emesene

If you are using Ubuntu, then you can simply goto

System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager

And find the package or software as “emesene“
and start using emesene, after successfully installing it from Synaptic Package Manager.

Or you can install the other Linux versions (including Ubuntu) from the following website:
http://www.emesene.org/download.html

emesene is also available and could be downloaded and installed for Windows, MAC OS X.

For more details, check out the official website of emesene at:

If you want to search people in your Pidgin, and the Pidgin Search is not working properly, like it stops searching after writing a single letter, then this must be the GTK problem.

Download The File:

Download the following zip file, where the file exists: libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll

http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/binaries/win32/gtk+/2.12/gtk+-2.12.6.zip

Replace The File:

You can simply overwrite the file libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll, existing in the Program Files, which is usually found in the following location:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\GTK\2.0\bin\

Or if your Program Files is in different drive, then replace the C: with your drive letter, example D:

For replacing the file, you first have to close Pidgin. After replacing the file, open your Pidgin again, and enjoy searching in your Pidgin and save the time of finding people in your list, by simply typing their names in Pidgin to get them easily.

MySql Order By Own Values, MySql Custom Order By

While going through a problem, I got a situation where I wanted to have a result set in a sorting order which is defined by me. Not ORDER BY ASC, not ORDER BY DESC, not ORDER BY RAND(), but ORDER BY FIELD i.e. the values which are defined by me, which could be random as well, but not ORDER BY RAND().

MySql Custom Order By Example

For example, if you have a result set of a table, containing the names of students, and you have set them as order by student names, and now you want the same ordering format of student names, in another table, which only only contains ids of the student. One easy way could be to make a join with the master table, containing the students names, and use simple Order By student name format, but there could be another way out, where you wont be needing to join the other table, just for the sake of ordering. You can use following type of query, where you already have the ordering student ids, i.e. you already know that which id will come first, and next, and so on.

ORDER BY FIELD

Following is the table tbl_test, where field id will be containing the student ids, through which we will be fetching 5 student ids, and we already know their sorting order, that which id will come first, and next and so on.

SELECT * FROM tbl_test
WHERE id IN (1,2,3,4,5)
ORDER BY FIELD(id, 1,3,5,4,2);
